Pool and Spa Compliance pool Locks

Do you know the latest Pool and Spa Compliance Regulations

With summer fast approaching, we would like to remind pool owners to register their private pool or spa as there are new requirements around:
1. Pool and spa safety barriers and fittings
2. Windows
3. Doors and gates
4. Lodge a Certificate of Barrier Compliance with your local council by the due date

The regulations include new requirements for owners to register their swimming pools and spas with their local council.  A council infringement notice may be issued for any failures to register.  After that, Owners must have a registered building surveyor or inspector certify the continuing compliance of their safety barrier every four years.

Frontline Locksmiths Melbourne can assist with lock solutions to get you compliance ready or rectify defects found during the certification process.

The deadline for registration was extended as a result of the impacts due to coronavirus (COVID-19).  This was to acknowledge the extra pressure on families and the increased workload on councils.  Most council deadlines are now in effect.

In Victoria most fatal drownings of young children occur in backyard swimming pools. Therefore, in December 2019 the Government introduced new regulations to make swimming pools and spas safer and prevent young children from drowning. Drowning is the most common cause of preventable death for young children.
